Somalia: Former lawmaker turns suicide bomber

A former Somali MP turned al Shabaab terrorist was one of the drivers of the double car bomb attack on the African Union’s main peacekeeping base in Somalia, al Shabaab said.

Saleh Noh Mohamed, 53, also known as Salah Badbado a former Somali Member of Parliament (MP) who defected to Shabaab in 2010, took part in yesterday’s suicide attack near an African Union (AU) base at the Mogadishu airport. The attack left 13 people dead and wounded 19 others wounded.

Radio Andalus broadcast an interview with Badbado on Wednesday that was recorded hours before the double attack.

The former Lawmaker lived in Jilib, a town in Jubaland, Southern Somalia that lies several hundred Kilometers  south of Kismayo the capital Jubaland State.

Somalia has been emerging from a long civil war, although Alshabaab lost much of the territory it controlled in the past they are still treat to countries infant and fragile peace.
